I was born and raised in New Brunswick, Canada, the second of 6 siblings.  I started attending orienteering meets with my family in the early 90’s, but my main interests were drama and music and I didn’t become interested in orienteering before I met Holger in 1996.  I started running cross-country while I studied medicine at Dalhousie University and began training for orienteering when I moved to Norway in 2000.  I have represented the Canadian Orienteering Team since 1997.

Up until 2005 I studied and worked full time (or more...) and started a demanding residency in Orthopedics.  It took a while for me to realize that I wouldn’t be able to combine these career ambitions with my wishes for sport and family.  In 2005 I switched to a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, working part time.  What started out as a compromise has now become my dream job, and I’m now able to balance family, career and sports in the way I hoped would be possible.

Because of my late start in orienteering and a lot of time spent on my medical education and practice, I still have bags of motivation for my sporting career.  For the moment that means it’s full guns for Trondheim 2010.
